Williamsburg Vacation IdeasThousands of visitors flock to Williamsburg each year to enjoy the historic sites and family entertainment. Whether you're lovers on the go or a family taking full advantage of your summer, Virginia caters to you. Historical explorations begin and end with the Ramada Inn 1776. A replica of a traditional Virginian Colonial Manor, this majestically designed hotel is an adventure in itself. With over 42 acres of crafted landscapes, molded around ponds, tennis courts and playgrounds, the Ramada Inn 1776 is a perfect getaway after a day of trolling the grounds of Colonial Williamsburg or running the paths of nearby theme parks with the kids. Busch Gardens has been voted the World's Most Beautiful and the World's Favorite theme park. It's 17th Century, European focus inspires romance for mom and dad, while kids of all ages will love the wide selection of activites. Together you can enjoy shows from eight stages, peruse the shops or relax with a nice meal at one of the many eateries at the park. Stay cool with a trip to Water Country USA, the mid-Atlantic's largest water park. Have fun with the 50's and 60's theme, or lay out on "the beach." Enjoy food, music, climate-controlled pools and more. Couples and wine aficionados will enjoy the Williamsburg Winery Reserve Tour and Tasting. Beginning with a walkthrough of the winemaking facilities, an operation producing over 70,000 cases of wine each year, you're lead to the Winery Museum and Gabriel Archer Tavern. Both buildings are replicas of 17th and 18th Century Virginia architecture. Together they take visitors through the art of winemaking, from the earliest forms to today's modern methods. The highlight of the Reserve Tour and Tasting is the Winery's Reserve Cellars where guests tease their senses with 12 award-winning reserve wines. An oversized Schott-Zweisel German tasting glass is included in the price. The Winery Tour and Tasting is suited to a more general audience. Skipping the Reserve Cellars, this tour takes you through the winemaking process and its history. And with the Tour and Lunch option, you can dine at the Gabriel Archer Tavern and sink your teeth into local cuisine. Save money on tour visitors under 21 years of age, and pay only for their dining. Less than 15 minutes from the winery is Comfort Inn Central, the perfect spot for travelers who want to be at the heart of things. Nestled in Williamsburg's restaurant district, fine dining and treasured amenities make this your home away from home. Others may enjoy the Comfort Inn Outlet Center, another three star hotel in the Williamsburg area. Take on a day of shopping, dining and fun, then return home for a dip in the indoor pool. Nearby is the Gold Award winner for area lodging for 2001, 2002 and 2003 - Quality Suites Williamsburg. Kick your nightly experience up a notch with top-of-the-line amenities. Included is an indoor pool, game room and onsite restaurant. History buffs will always seek out Virginia; couples and families too. With the wide range of local sites, entertainment, and lodging, Williamsburg is sure to appease everyone in your group. |
