Williamsburg Romance

The Virginia motto is "Virginia is for Lovers" and this is especially true of the Williamsburg area. With a great winery, excellent hotels and romantic attractions, you are sure to find love in its embrace. If you're planning a vacation to celebrate a new love, or to rekindle an old one, you will find something to suit every situation.

DINING

  • The Whitehall Restaurant. Enjoy an intimate European-style experience in an elegant yet casual atmosphere. This restaurant is located in a historical building and the ambiance is perfect for special occasions.
  • Berrett's Seafood Restaurant and Raw Bar. Enjoy the possibilities from two very different restaurants in one place. Berrett's Restaurant specializes in fresh regional seafood - shrimp, blue crabs, scallops, oysters, and tuna. They also offer steaks, chicken and lamb. There is full beverage service, including micro brews and wines.
  • The Taphouse Grill features the foods, wines, and beer of Virginia with eight drafts and unique and hard-to-find wines plus grilled fish, steaks and burgers, all in a casual outdoor setting. They've been voted "Best Seafood Restaurant" for over ten years!
  • King's Arms Tavern. Enjoy a fine meal in a tavern atmosphere and help support educational programs at Colonial Williamsburg. This tavern has a history and is a fun place to enjoy a meal. When Mrs. Vobe moved her business opposite the Raleigh Tavern in early 1772, she adopted the name "King's Arms," signaling her intention to accommodate gentlemen customers in the tradition of the leading public houses in England. Reservations are recommended for dinner.

SHOWS AND ATTRACTIONS

  • Busch Gardens Williamsburg. This 17th century theme park has been rated on of the best in the world. It boasts several of the best roller coasters around and many rides that are just plain fun-like the Loch Ness Monster. In the summer, enjoy the accompanying water park, Water Country USA, as well.
  • Rosie Rumpe's Regal Dumpe Theater. "Williamsburg's Bawdiest Dinner Theatre!" When you enter, you become a happy patron in a bawdy 16th-century London pub that is the favorite haunt of the legendary King Henry VIII. Here, you're encouraged to bang on the tables, sing along and truly become part of the show. Along with all the frivolity, Rosie Rumpe's Regal Dumpe serves a sumptuous feast.
  • Jamestown Island Explorer Cruises. See Jamestown Island as the original explorers did during day and evening cruises on the 49-passenger Explorer. Experience the natural beauty and fascinating wildlife of the waters and marshes surrounding Jamestown Island National Park. Along the way you'll see eagles, osprey, deer and breathtaking scenery. The narration includes Jamestown history, humor and local folklore.

WINERIES

  • Williamsburg Winery. Professionally guided 30-45 minute tours through the Winery, museum, and underground barrel cellars. You learn about the wine making process, from viticulture, harvesting and crushing, through fermentation, aging and bottling - as well as the history of the Winery. Visitors enjoy a tasting of seven wines after the tour and receive an etched tasting glass. This winery is steeped in history going back to 1607 although the winery itself was established in 1985.

WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!!! So many different areas for little ones as well as adults. The park is labeled so clearly. The only down side was upon booking, we were not asked if we were military because Water Country is FREE!!! to military and dependents, minus parking and food, of course. So we paid for a park that was free to us and lost that money. We can not get that money refunded. So if your military, DO NOT book online. Just go to the costumer service at the gate and show id's to get complimentary admission.
