While Williamsburg's tourist industry is heavily focused on the endless array of historical sites and attractions that are scattered across the beautiful area, there are actually quite a few things to draw the modern-day enthusiast to Williamsburg as well. From museums to theme parks, Williamsburg can easily accommodate those looking to stay in the 21st century.

  • Busch Gardens Williamsburg:  The family can easily spend a day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and still want to come back for more. Packed with more than 50 thrill rides, 10 show stages and an endless array of food options, the European-themed atmosphere of Busch Gardens will couple with its non-stop entertainment to provide a relaxing day of excitement. Come explore the 100 hundred acres of modern entertainment that awaits at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

  • Go-Karts Plus: This eight-acre fun land is the true epitome of family entertainment. Challenge dad to a heart-pounding race in the Super Stockarts, score a hole-in-one against little brother in an intense game of mini-golf, or soak mom with the bumper boats. And when you're worn out from the physical entertainment, head inside to the snack bar and arcade area. Whether you're traveling with children or are simply young at heart, there's plenty of modern day fun to be had at Go-Karts Plus.

  • Virginia Living Museum: It may be a museum, but don't get the wrong idea. The main focus of The Virginia Living Museum, natural science, is every bit as prevalent today as it was when time began. The museum boasts a variety of options, including a wildlife park, science museum, aquarium, botanical area, planetarium theater and observatory. So, whether you're witnessing bald eagles and bobcats in their natural habitat or petting a sea star, you're sure to find The Virginia Living Museum to be an endless time of education and entertainment.

  • Water Country USA: Touted as the mid-Atlantic's largest water park, Water Country USA is the perfect way to beat the heat when visiting Williamsburg during the summer months. With more than 30 water attractions the kids will have no problem staying busy throughout the day, and with numerous lounge areas parents will be able to sit back and relax.

It's not recommended to visit Williamsburg and completely forgo the historical elements of the area. Attractions such as Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center are all interesting vacation options that present a wealth of educational opportunity, but if you just don't think you can stomach of full course of history while on vacation Williamsburg does have a lot more on the menu than one might think.

Colonial Williamsburg
Not very entertaining or educational. Actors were slacking. It has changed greatly since when I 1st went as a kid. Maybe because it was the Xmas season but alot of things werent open and there was a very skeloton crew of actors on hand. Also I many thought there should have been more showing of slaves and there treatment.
