Events and Activies at Landing Party

At each port, there's a party, and each party will include:

- A hip-hop artist performing an original song called "I Have A Name." This artist is part of a 16 person group of young dancers and singers called "Anniversary Voices." The entire group will perform on the festivals main stage along with actors in the original children's musical. This musical tells the Jamestown story from the perspective of an American Indian girl, animals, a sheep, and even a monster.

- An exhibit area featuring 20 different presenters, called "Anniversary Village," where visitors can get information about Williamsburg, the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia wine, and other topics and destinations.

- Another exhibit area called "American People, American Progress," will highlight the intersection of the three main cultures of this area: African, American Indian, and European.

- "The Jamestown Experience" - An exhibit where visitors can see models of the Jamestown settlement, along with three other ships that carried the original settlers.

- The new Godspeed replica's deck will be open for tours, guided by costumed interpreters.

- A twelve seat ship simulator that rocks and sways to recreate the Jamestown settlers' voyage.

- There will also be additional musical performances, other forms of family entertainment, and more.

There's a lot going on at each port, to be sure. They are expecting for over 90,000 people to view the new Godspeed and all the other exhibits, by the end of the month long tour. If you're going to be in one of these areas, this will be one of the most popular events taking place. It's all part of the Jamestown 400th Anniversary Celebration, and you won't want to miss the party.

Jamestown Settlement
Enjoyed it very much but warn people that it can be busy. We had 2800 school children viewing it at the same time. It is also a fair weather event.

Jamestown Settlement
This was quite an enjoyable addition to our trip. Fantastic museum and center (very modern bdlg-begin there) and visit atrip into our heritage. An Indian village, a large military fort, sailing ships from the past and colonists, soldiers and Indians to act the part. The original sites have a glass blowing exhibition (quite unique), outline of a church's ruins and the shore line (more adult type info.)
