Getting Into and Around Williamsburg's Transit and Airports

Williamsburg, VA is easy to find, with many options on how to arrive in this historical gem, including car, air or train. Once you're in town, you'll find there's an assortment of ways to get around as well.

By Car

Williamsburg is located 150 miles south of Washington, D.C., roughly midway between Richmond and Virginia Beach on Interstate 64. From Interstate 64, you may take exits 227 through 242 to reach different points of interest in the Historic Triangle.

  • From Richmond, take I-64 E toward Norfolk and exit VA 143 E and follow the signs.
  • From Washington DC, take I-395 S, I-395 becomes I-95, Merge onto I-295 S via exit number 84A- on the left- toward ROCKY MT NC, Merge onto I-64 E via exit number 28A toward NORFOLK/ VA BEACH, take VA 143 E exit and follow signs.
  • From Norfolk take I-64 W toward Richmond , exit VA 143 E and follow the signs.

By Train

  • You'll find that Amtrak has direct service from Baltimore, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Airports

  • The Newport News/Williamburg International Airport is 20 minutes from downtown Williamsburg. There are car rentals and some shuttle services available to hotels in the Williamsburg area.
  • Norfolk International Airport is located 50 minutes from downtown Williamsburg. There are car rentals located on and near the airport and a shuttle service available to Williamsburg.
  • Richmond International Airport is 50 minutes away from the Williamsburg area. Car rental is available onsite and there is also limited shuttle service available to Williamsburg.
  • The Williamsburg/Jamestown Regional Airport is a small regional airport that serves the area and is three miles from downtown Williamsburg. The airport has car rental services onsite.

  • Yellow Cab of Williamsburg. Serving the entire Williamsburg and James City/County area. Airport service to all local airports. Flat rates for out-of-town trips. Package pickup and delivery. Drivers are independent and their DMV records and criminal backgrounds are checked.
  • Carey VIP and Chauffeured Service. Licensed drivers offer services including tours, guided, shuttles, nights on the town or airport transfer service.

Busch Gardens Europe - Williamsburg, VA
every year i go on vacation with my family....disney world kenny wood at pa etc. but i have to admitt that this amusment park is my fav because it has to do with europe and i want to go to europe next summer, but ya this is my fav so far.

Colonial Williamsburg
Not very entertaining or educational. Actors were slacking. It has changed greatly since when I 1st went as a kid. Maybe because it was the Xmas season but alot of things werent open and there was a very skeloton crew of actors on hand. Also I many thought there should have been more showing of slaves and there treatment.
