Ten minutes from Colonial Williamsburg is the Williamsburg Winery, a 320 acre vineyard that blends the charm of the past with today's modern winemaking techniques. This is Virginia's largest winery, and they produce more than 70,000 cases of wine each year. You'll find several varieties of grapes grown here, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Seyval, Merlot, and Vidal. The buildings, including the Winery Museum and the Garbriel Archer Tavern, are built to resemble the architectural styles of 17th and 18th century Virginia. This serene setting serves as a perfect backdrop for an encounter that is sure to provide wine lovers of all experience levels with an informative, inside look at the production of award-winning wines.

About the Tour and Tasting

Learn about wine and winemaking from a variety of sources, including your own tastebuds. You'll start with a ten minute video to learn about the winemaking process before heading off on a guided tour of the winemaking facilities. You'll gain an insight on the history of the property, and take a peek at their Old World barrel cellars. You'll walk through their museum, where you'll see artifacts from early settlements of the property, plus the largest private collection of 18th century bottles, and a collection that shows the evolution of the wine bottle from early 1700s to today. You'll taste seven of the vineyard's wines, and keep your monogrammed tasting glass as a souvenir of your visit.

About the Reserve Tour and Tasting:

This tour was developed with the wine aficionado in mind. Not only will you get a guided tour of the Williamsburg Winery's winemaking facilities, but you'll visit their Reserve Cellars.
