For those wanting to relive the life of a pirate on the high seas, Pieces of Eight Pirate Cruises offers a chance to do just that. Pieces of Eight is a pirate themed cruise designed for buccaneers young and old to experience a real-life pirate voyage. The cruise takes place aboard a 65 foot steel hull ship built as per U.S Coast Guard specifications. The ship started operations in November 2004.
Named after the Spanish coins made of gold, the ship offers fun for the whole family. There is a shuttle service available from the park at 2nd street and Atlantic Avenue to the ship at Rudee Inlet. The friendly pirate crew entertains the would be buccaneers with interactive pirate themed fun including face painting, music, limbo dancing and treasure hunts. Complimentary soft drinks are provided and a bar service and snacks are available. Full safety equipment is provided and the captains are Coast Guard licensed. Dolphin sightings are also quite common and add to the experience.
There are four daily ninety minute cruises during the period from May 1 to September 30. Private charters including private parties, business meetings, corporate events, school field trips and birthday parties can also be arranged on board.
