Located in the upscale Fairmount Express in Victoria, the Bengal Lounge draws its inspiration from the majestic days of yore, when India was still under the rein of the Colonial Empire.
The interiors exude the sumptuousness of the stately ambience the Lounge recreates with its rich wood trappings and leather upholstery. You can opt to sip on one of their interesting cocktails like the Tiger's Kiss Martini which combines Absolut vodka with red passion fruit liqueur, pineapple juice and a squeeze of fresh lime. You can also try the Ivory Hunter Cocktail which lives up to every bit of its statuesque name with Kahlua and Malibu rum shaken with orange and pineapple juice and a topping of whipped cream. If you happen to visit at lunchtime, you can savor the exotic offerings of the Curry Lunch Buffet which features favorites like Tandoori Chicken and Vegetable Samosas and an assortment of fresh Indian breads. For dinner, you can either try the Buffet or go a la carte with dishes like the excellent Bengal Summer Salad or the Tiger Beer Battered BC Salmon and Halibut which comes with a helping of fries topped with caper tartar sauce.
Friday and Saturday evenings usher in the Chocolate Dessert Buffet which features the show stopper 'Death by Chocolate' desserts. Your exotic meal will be accompanied by the soulful strains of jazz music, courtesy the live band. The restaurant is very particular about the dress code which is strictly smart casual.
You can visit the Bengal Lounge for lunch between 11.30 am and 2 pm, while dinner is served from 6 pm to 9 pm Sunday through Thursday and from 6 pm to 11 pm on Friday and Saturday.
