The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is on Moss Street, Victoria, British Columbia. If you are a fan of art exhibitions or are just looking for something to do at the weekend or on a spare afternoon then a visit to the Gallery might be just the thing for you. The Gallery is open from ten in the morning to five in the evening every weekday including Saturdays and except Thursdays when it is open til nine pm in the evening. Entrance fees are twelve dollars for adults and two dollars for children under sixteen so it is not overly expensive.
The the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria opened in1951 in the 1889 historic mansion that is now alongside its seven galleries. Over the years it has become an important part of the artists' community in Victoria and now has the largest art collection in British Columbia. The mansion house now houses the Gallery's administration offices, its shop, and sale and rental department of its art. The shop features jewellery, scarves and pottery by local crafts people and artists.
The mansion is also available to be rented for meetings and special occasions such as weddings. The Gallery runs a number of different exhibitions and events and you can either telephone the Gallery or check out the website to see what is on and when you plan to visit. There are also lectures by various art experts from time to time - again check out the events section of the Gallery's website.
