The Wax Museum in Veracruz, VZ doesn't quite hold a candle to Madame Tussauds but there are some interesting figures on display here. In Spanish, the place is called Museo de Cera and it is located on Manuel Avila Camacho Boulevard within the Plaza Acuario. It's near the city's incredible aquarium as well as many shops.
You will find at least ten different halls within the Wax Museum of Veracruz and almost one hundred figures of wax are housed within the walls. There are some figures you may not recognize like the President of Mexico, if you were not a native resident of the country. However, you would likely recognize Salma Hayek, an actress native to the Veracruz area.
The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, is forever immortalized in wax as are many notable sports figures, political celebrities, artists and even Pope John Paul II. The Disney display attracts the children with wax figures of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and even Harry Potter. There is even a cool tunnel area in which you walked over a bridge while the walls appeared to be spinning. If you are prone to motion sickness, you might want to walk through this with your eyes closed! However, the kids seem to love it.
In addition to the motley crew of wax figures in the Wax Museum in Veracruz, there is also a maze of mirrors you can try and navigate your way through. All in all, this museum is a fun way to pass a bit of time, especially if you need a brief respite from other attractions in the area.
