One of the oldest entrepreneurships in Mexico, the Gran Café de la Parroquia has now come to be an almost integral part of the Veracruz tradition, having operated in this city for over two centuries.<
What once began as a small café that stood opposite the parish, from which it draws its name, is now an impressive establishment, boasting of over 125 tables and a staff of 180 dedicated employees. From its early beginnings in 1808, the café has now moved on to serving over 300 people a day and sells more than six thousand coups of coffee every day!
Regulars attribute the unwavering popularity of the Gran Café de la Parroquia to the fact that all the milk used by the café is manufactured in-house, which gives them the opportunity to scrutinize the process of production right from its nascent phase! The café also believes in knowing the customers they serve on a personal first-name basis, which has led to many bonds and friendships being forged here. When here, don't forget to try out the house specialty called 'café lechero' which is sold at 17 pesos a pop.
