The Vancouver Maritime Museum is a great place for children and adults to come and learn more of the history, culture, art, technology and industry in Canada's maritime. The museum offers many artifacts, presentation and exhibits to showcase the maritime industry. You will leave knowing much more and had fun doing it.
The museum hosts many events throughout the year. You or children can take part in all of the events offered. They have a day activities for children called Captain Nasty's Junior Pirate Schools which will teach your little pirate everything about being a pirate. They have Gallery Talks when you can come and learn more about the museum itself. During the holiday season, you can receive a discount on your admission but bringing in a donation of a canned good for the needy. The museum likes to keep the events and exhibits new so you will never have the same exact experience if you go several times.
The exhibits will include artifacts and documents from history. Tales from the Vault exhibit will has many of these artifacts. They also have special exhibits to honor certain voyages and explorations. The museum also has a library where you can brose manuscripts, pamphlets, monographs and archived material about maritime travel. History of Pacific Northwest and Vancouver are the focus for these reading and researching materials.
