Despite its fascinating name, Trout Lake Park in East Vancouver, BC wasn't named for any trouting activities- it's still a very nice park with lovely amenities, though.
You can find Trout Lake Park on John Hendry Park, which is certainly a mouthful, but unlike many major parks, earns its strange name from an interesting history and scenic surroundings.
After many renovations, the park is used now as host to many major annual events that include the First Nations Pow Wow and every weekend during warm weather, the Farmers' Market.
For swimmers, Trout Lake itself is watched over by a lifeguard at all times, and remains a popular swimming facility for both locals and visitors.
