Located at Queens Avenue in New Westminster, the Museum of the Royal Westminster Regiment narrates a comprehensive account of the military history of this region, which dates back to 1863 and journeys through to the modern times.
The Royal Westminster Regiment holds the distinction of having served in both the World Wars and has won 28 well-deserved battle honors for its contribution. Today, the regiment provides an Infantry Company to supplement the Regular Force on NATO and missions commissioned by the United Nations. The Museum of the Royal Westminster Regiment is housed in the old gun room of the Armories and showcases a comprehensive collection of photographs which depict the development of the Royal Westminster Regiment through the years. You can also browse through the display of uniforms, the medals and trophies which have been awarded to this valiant regiment and even view a collection of small arms.
The Museum archives store a wealth of information in the form of manuscripts, documents and other memorabilia which pertain to the regiment, which you can view by prior appointment. The museum is open all through the year from 1 pm to 3 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm on Tuesdays and 1 pm to 3 pm on Thursdays. You can also schedule a visit during the rest of the week by intimating the museum in advance. The museum also offers guided tours which you can avail of by calling ahead of your visit. Admission is free of cost for visitors of all ages.
