Every one of all ages always loves a good ghost story. That is, unless they're involved in the midst of it! The residents of New Westminster have always been surrounded with one ghost story or another. Westminster seems to be full of different ghost stories to share with the residents and visitors. Glenbrook Ravine Park near Vancouver, BC has long been a story worth telling.
People living in the area claim they have seen a ghost walking across the hill of Ravine Park many times. They've described him as a glowing figure. Some people have also claimed they've heard gunshots on top of the hill. The strange thing is that none of the residents that live in that area own guns. In the 1980s, a man was shot in the park and it is believed that these are the gunshots they are hearing and the ghost is the man that was shot there.
The British Columbia Penitentiary, which was closed in 1980, is a long-time and popular landmark in New Westminster. After a development company bought it, there were only empty buildings still standing. People claim they've seen inmate's faces looking through the bars of the empty building. Many residents of BC claim they have seen orbs (souls of a deceased person) in the housing development that bought the old building.
The location of Glenbrook Ravine Park is right on the edge of where the former penitentiary was located. Some feel there may be some connection. Could the dead man have been a prisoner? Was he shot by a prisoner? What is the connection between the two? Is there a connection?
