Cathedral Place, a 23-story skyscraper, was built in 1991 as a commercial development in the heart of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The foundations for this city landmark are from the Georgia Dental Medical Building, a building that formed a key part of the city's history.
Located at 1118-925 West Georgia Street, Cathedral Place was constructed using some parts of the original building in the new structure. Architects attempted to combine history and contemporary feel in a building that houses retail stores, cafes and other offices. The courtyard attracts visitors for a moment of relaxation, while others take in the Canadian Craft Museum north of the main building.
Cathedral Place is considered a self-contained entity, with its own parking areas close at hand and its convenient location close to numerous other commercial and recreational venues. Nearby, visitors will find Christ Church Cathedral; several top-quality hotels, including Fairmont, Crowne Plaza, Four Seasons, Hyatt Regency etc.; Royal Bank Pavilion; Burrard SkyTrain Station; Toronto Dominion Tower and others.
Nine retail stores have space on the main level of Cathedral Place, with almost 300 parking spots available on four levels (off Hornby Street). Visitors can even take the opportunity to clean up their ride by talking with one of the staff members of Classic Car Wash. The Garden Court and Sculptured Garden are very popular as a quiet place to hide away for a few minutes. The court/garden site occasionally hosts a noon-hour concert during the summer.
