Built in 1972, The Canada Games Pool shot to instant fame as the venue for the Canada Summer Games of 1973. Since then, the pool has been developed as an aquatic and fitness center which boasts of top-notch instruction, state of the art equipment and affordable pricing, making it one of the prime fitness destinations in the country.
The magnificent pool is of Olympic proportions and scrupulously maintained to allow members aquatic facilities, which are at par with those offered by leading establishments throughout the globe. The shallow end of the pool is ideal for children making there first forays into the aquatic world, while the middle section is more suited to lengths swimming. If you are a true-blue water, with a fancy trick or two to flaunt, then head straight for the five and seven meter tower at the deep end. For the less adventurous, there are also the one meter and three meter diving boards which allow you to literally spring into the water! The Games Pool also has a fun instructor to organize and coordinate games and activities to make your swimming session more fun than it's ever been!
The Canada Games Pool also organizes several programs during the week like the 'Adult Swim' which is a great way for aficionados above the age of 15 to meet likeminded people and forge new friendships. These swimming sessions are open to swimmers of all levels of skill and also include water aerobics classes. To liven up the experience, there are volleyball and ping-pong games conducted here and also floating equipment if you tire of all the boisterous activity. 'Parent and tot' sessions are accompanied by the strains of lively children's music and the pool is decorated with helium balloons and foam water tunnels which transform it into an exciting pint-sized water park! At the end of a tiring session, head straight for the Swirl Pool or the Sauna to ease your aches and pains away, or keep the excitement going strong with a game of basketball. You can even tone a muscle or two at the fitness center which has been developed on the mezzanine spectator area. Spread over 5,000 square feet of treadmills, weights and almost every kind of fitness equipment you will need to work on your cardiovascular health and strength. The Canada Games Pool is open to visitors from 6 am to 9:30 pm, Monday through Friday, 8:15 am to 8 pm on Saturday and 8:15 am to 9:30 pm on Sunday. Admission is charged at about $5.15 per person with special discounts for youth and seniors. If you're looking to keep up with your fitness regime on a regular basis, you can even avail of the passes which are available in various denominations, depending on how frequently, or otherwise, you intend to visit.
