Outdoor Adventure in Vancouver, BCVancouver and its surrounding area offer many fun and cultural outdoor activities. You can visit rivers, mountains, hot springs or wineries in the Vancouver area depending on how much time you have. The Hells Gate/Fraser River Tour is an eight-hour tour through the Fraser River Canyon and Hells Gate area on a Gondola. This tour treats you to an aerial view of the magnificent canyon cut out of the earth by the Fraser River. When Simon Fraser first canoed this river, he called it Hells Gate because of the dangerous whirlpools and rapids that he faced as he traversed it. Today, you can experience all of the beauty that Simon Fraser experienced from the safety of a comfortable gondola. If you are a little more adventurous, you might prefer the Fraser River Safari Tour. This three and a quarter-hour tour will take you through the calmer areas of the Fraser River on a specially designed jet boat where you will have the opportunity to view bears, seals, deer and other animals. Though this tour does not take you through Hells Gate, it is not without excitement. The experienced guide will show you what a jet boat can do on the Fraser River, so be forewarned if you are squeamish about speed. Speaking of squeamish, if you have the stomach for heights, you might like to take the North Shore, Capilano and Grouse Tour. This six-hour tour combines a Grouse Mountain sky ride, a crossing of Lyons Bridge and a crossing of the Capilano Suspension bridge so that you can get a sky eye view of some of the most magnificent scenery in the Vancouver area. For a shorter trip that keeps you lower in altitude, you might want to consider a Wine Tour. During a five-hour Wine Tour, you can visit seven vineyards and wineries in the Vancouver area. At each winery during this Wine Tour, you can taste one of Canada's finest wines, but you do not have to be a wine connoisseur to enjoy the tour. The culture of wine making is an age-old way of life and the history of Canadian winemaking is rich and interesting. Even if you are underage for drinking wine you will enjoy the scenery and history of viticulture that you will learn about during this Wine Tour. Whether you have half a day or a whole day, whether you like your head in the clouds or your feet on the ground, Vancouver is sure to offer you an outdoor excursion that will meet or exceed your vacation expectations. |
