The Recreation District aims at developing sporting opportunities for enthusiasts of every age and skill level. Golfing aficionados can tee away at a height of over 8,200 feet. Fans of snowboarding can hone their skills at the Vail Gymnastics Building where they can freewheel on the huge trampoline or even try the 30' long tumble track. The Gymnastics Center also conducts classes every week where you can learn innovative tricks to display on the snow laden peaks. Toddlers can avail of the exciting gymnastics lessons which are conducted here. Combined with creative games, children can progress from the Toddler to the Rockin' Bears level and eventually boast of being a Super Bear!
The J. Dobson Area is home to a magnificent 35,000 square foot skiing arena, which is also host to the Vail Figure Skating Festival and Invitational Skating Championships. Beginners of every age can also take their first graceful steps under the guidance of skilled instructors. For the more adventurous, the arena also offers ice hockey opportunities. The Outdoor Center offers an array of activities like Mountain Biking on the picturesque slopes, running races which include trial races and marathons, and even martial arts classes which teach children the importance of discipline and encourage their physical development.
