The Saguaro National Park in Tucson, AZ is known for the enormous saguaro cacti that grow there. The saguaro cacti are a well known symbol that represents the American West. There is actually not a lot of saguaro that grow in the country, but they are rather abundant at the Saguaro National Park. The park is located just outside Tucson. Saguaro National Park has two districts. The districts lie on either side of the city of Tucson. The Western district is called the Tucson Mountain District or Saguaro West. The Eastern district is called the Rincon Mountain District or Saguaro East. The two districts are about an hours drive apart. They are similar in many ways but each also has very distinct characteristics. The Tucson Mountain District is located right n the Valley View Overlook Trail and allows for an amazing view of the Avra Valley and the many mountain ranges. The district features a program that offers Native American commentary of the saguaro cactus that is shown at the Red Hills Visitor Center. It also features the Signal Hill Picnic Area where you can view ancient petroglyphs. The Rincon Mountain District offers a tour on the Cactus Forest Loop Drive which allows for a great view of the Rincon Mountains. There is also a hiking route on the Freeman Homestead Trail. The Saguaro Wilderness area features the Manning Cabin which is a historic site built in 1905. As you can see the Saguaro National Park is a diverse area that allows you to really see all the natural beauty of the Tucson area.
