Invisible Theatre in Tucson, AZ has been bringing music and theatre presents to the Tucson area for over 30 years. They are an organization dedicated to providing great theatre and arts educational performances for the community from the local professionals or guest artists. They named the theatre "Invisible Theatre" because of the magic of the theatre created by the invisible flow of energy between the artist and the audience. Although it was originally created as an area for the local playwrights in 1971, it has now grown into a theatre providing recent and classic Off-Broadway musicals and plays as well as encouraging new playwrights through the works provided by stage readings and productions.
The Invisible Theatre, under the direction of Susan Claassen, James Blair and Cathy Johnson, is dedicated to providing many types of outreach programs and community services. One of their projects, "Project Pastime" is a theatre program for the mentally challenged, which provides them with seminars and video workbooks.
The Invisible Theatre has won the Arizona Theatre Association Award for being the Best Producing Theatre Company. In fact, they were the first to get this award. They hold their productions in an 80-seat converted laundry building, and it's usually filled to capacity. Their goal is to make each year better than the year before by providing the area with the cultural services and productions as well as promoting local talent.
Season tickets for the Invisible Theatre are available through the theatre as well as online. The new seasons promise some awesome entertainment with greats like the new off-Broadway comedy special "The Big Voice: God or Merman" or Judy Gold in "25 Questions". You may want to check out their new schedule as soon as possible as they have some great performances coming up this fall.
