If you are staying in or around Toronto then the Princess of Wales Theatre is well worth a visit with performances to suit all tastes. Located on King Street West the Princess of Wales is in the downtown entertainment area of Toronto. The Theatre is close to some major Toronto attractions such as the CN Tower, The Rogers Centre and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Built in 1993 the Princess of Wales Theatre has a seating capacity for up to two thousand people it is the first privately owned and financed theatre that has been built in Toronto since 1907 it is also the first such theatre in thirty years in the whole of North America. The Princess of Wales Theatre is a state of the art modern theatre that has been built with all the luxury, intimacy and comfort of a nineteenth century theatre in mind.
There is a horse shaped two balcony seating plan along with boxes, orchestra, dress circle and balcony. The interior walls are decorated with colourful murals (an original model of which hangs in Canada's National Gallery) and the ceiling dome is the work of a famed contemporary artist.
Each level of the theatre is served by a lift to make it accessible for everyone including wheelchair users. Each level also has its own lobby, bar and refreshment centre.
