Annual Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Toronto Zoo in Toronto, ON

Toronto Zoo salutes Canadian veterans at the Waterside Theatre during their annual Remembrance Day Ceremony in November.

The Canadian national holiday is marked each year by citizens across the country on November 11, the eleventh day of the eleventh month, at the eleventh hour.

Veterans and their guests receive free admission to the ceremony, which honors and remembers the numerous sacrifices and duties veterans have performed for Canada during wartime and peace.

The Remembrance Day Ceremony, with the evergreen motto of 'Lest We Forget', has been held at the Toronto Zoo for nearly two and a half decades.

The Toronto Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the world, sited on 710 acres. First opened in 1974, and is home to some species that no longer thrive in the wild. The zoo hosts several programs aimed at preserving a diversity of species, as well as festivals and special events for the public throughout the year.
