Night Sky Adventures near Taos, New Mexico offers astronomy tours mostly in the night, but also during the day. The newest program, the Solar System Safaris, is a daytime tour that uses telescopes with special filters.

The Solar System Safaris is lets guests see the biggest and closest star to the Earth, the sun. On the tour, guests will get to see the sun in amazing clarity and details. Guests will see sunspots, solar flares, solar prominence's, solar filaments, plage, and granulation. If you're someone who's never heard of these terms before, you'll quickly learn what they are on this tour.

The Solar System Safaris program explores the relationship between the sun, earth and moon, the scale of the solar system, safe solar radiation experiments, and safe solar viewing.

This program, like Night Sky Adventures' other programs, is educational.

For the regular programs held by this company, guests will first receive a brief orientation of the telescope. Then the viewing begins, and what guests see depends on the time of year. Guests may see the rings of Saturn, Jupiter's great red spot, and polar ice caps and surface color variations and dust storms on Mars. There's also the chance to see the green disk of Uranus and the cloud tops on Venus.

Night Sky Adventures shows guests how to tell the difference between nebulae stars and stars with supernova remnants. Questions are encouraged since programs are interactive. Presentations are in easy to understand terms.

Private groups and tours are cost $275. Tours can be brought to and booked for guest ranches, conferences, homes, B&Bs, family unions, conferences, and camp outs.
