First Baptist Church near Taos, NM

The First Baptist Church near Taos, New Mexico is a handicap accessible church that's located in the heart of the historic Taos. It was founded in 1934 as a small group of believers and has grown to be a large, well-established congregation.

Services are available Sunday morning at 11 am. There's also Sunday School at 10 am. At 6 pm there's an evening service. Other events the church holds are a Tuesday Morning Prayer Meeting in the pastor's office at 7 am, Rezon8 Youth Happenings on Wednesdays, the College Group on Wednesdays, a Thursday worship night at 7 pm, and a Friday night to Saturday morning shelter for the homeless event. This is held from 6 pm on Friday to 7 am on Saturday morning.

Worship services on Sunday are a mix of songs of praise that mix contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns. This is followed by a time of intercessory prayer. Then comes the message from God's word.

The church provides local transportation to and from services to those who require it.

The pastor of the First Baptist Church is Pastor James. He was called into the ministry in 1979 shortly after he graduated from high school.

Pastor James has a bachelor's degree in psychology and biblical studies from Houston Baptist University in 1983. He worked as a youth pastor for a number of years before receiving his Masters of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1990.
He has been the pastor of First Baptist Taos since March 2002 and is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry degree at Denver Seminary.
