Davis Island Beach in Tampa, FL
Davis Island Beach in Tampa, Florida is in the Davis Islands Park. There's a small beach as well, but most of the area is dedicated to being a dog park. In this dog park, canines can run off-leash. It's located at the south end of the Islands.
Davis Park also has a picnic area, a canoe launch and boat ramps. The entire park is approximately one acre.
For people, the park doesn't offer much of an atmosphere. It's across from an industrial park and next to a small private airport (Davis Island Seaplane Basin) and a marina (Davis Island Yacht Club), but there's plenty of space for dogs to run free.
Davis Island Beach may be a dog park, but it's also family friendly. Children of all ages are welcome and strollers can be easily navigated if the wheels are large enough to push in the sand.
There are no people washrooms, and no information is available as to whether or not there are outhouses.
Davis Island Beach has fluffy white sand and a few rocks. The water of Hillsborough Bay is shallow and rock-free so owners don't need to worry about their dogs hurting themselves.
Across the parking lot and the beach is another dog park. The park has a double-gated entry, plenty of parking, lots of garbage cans, drinking water, and dog waste pickup facilities (poop bags). There are two fenced areas: one for small dogs and one for large dogs. There is also a doggie shower.
Davis Island Beach also has a public beach in addition to the dog park. On the public beach there are "No Dogs on the Beach" signs. Dogs are not permitted on Tampa's public beaches.
