The Avila Golf & Country Club in Tampa, Florida promotes itself as one of "America's most exclusive and beautiful Country Clubs." " It was built in 1980 and has 18-holes of golf, six lighted Har-Tru tennis courts, fully equipped pro shops, a junior Olympic-size swimming pool, a traditional caddy program, and a Mediterranean-style clubhouse.
Avila developer Bob Sierra and partner Jack Nicklaus designed the golf course in 1988. The two are also responsible for designing Country Club of the South, Bear Creek, Country Club of Louisiana, and Wynstone.
The Avila Golf & Country Club is family friendly. Family social activities are annually offered at the pool. Avila also offer Junior Golf Programs.
The golf course is a par 72 course that plays 7004 years from the back tees. There are five sets of tees that cater to all levels of experience and playing preferences. Private lessons and clinics taught by PGA professionals are available to members. Greens are hand-cut and fairways are kept in immaculate condition. There's also a full-service pro shop.
Various tennis leagues, like Men's Double Leagues and the Women's USTA 3.0 Level League, play on the club's tennis courts. The Avila Golf & Country Club offers private and semi-private tennis lessons and clinic of four players. There are tennis programs for children three to 13.
Food menus at the club are planned and created by Executive Chef Greg Thompson. Food and Beverage Director Don Couvillon helps pair the foods with wine. The club has a 125-bottle vintage wine selection and complimentary wine storage for members. Catering services are also available.
