The historic Albert Whitted Municipal Airport is a great destination when visiting St Petersburg, Florida.
The airport itself is open to public use, with all users being charged to pay the cost of operations. The airport was the location of the first scheduled flight in history, which occured in 1914, and was even used as an airbase during World War II to assist with military operations.
The airport remains today for public use and for touring. Visiting the airport is a great way to see not only the waterfront, but also the local culture while in Florida.
