Selby Lights in Bloom at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Sarasota, FL
Thousands of shimmering lights adorn the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens during "Lights in Bloom", a favorite Sarasota tropical holiday tradition. Local live entertainers and music groups provide the entertainment for the 11-night celebration, amid an atmosphere of light sculptures of dragonflies, orchids, butterflies and tropical birds.
The mansion receives decoration by the Sarasota Sister Cities Association, and reflects international seasonal traditions, including a "Trees Around the World" exhibit.
Santa stops by nearly every night of the festival leading up to Christmas, and is available to visit with the youngest guests. A variety of family-friendly entertainment and activities are featured on two Family Nights, with a magic performance and face painting.
Tea and coffee are available, and the Gardens' two gift shops, The Garden Shop and Banyan Treasures, provide distinctive gift ideas for friends and family.
A well-known orchid showplace, the Selby Botannical Garden is a research center, and is open to guests daily, except on Christmas.
