Dental Health Theatre in St. Louis, MO is probably one of the most unique tourist attractions you'll see while on your vacation. It's definitely one of a kind when it comes to buildings and sights. A set of 16 three feet tall teeth is what catches your attention first. These fiberglass-illuminated teeth are here to help you realize and understand the need for good dental care and hygiene. With the exception of a museum in California, there are no other teeth like these anywhere in the world.
The theatre consists of presentations, which are 45 minutes long and have either the films, "Dudley the Dinosaur Goes to the Dentist" or "The Haunted Mouth" depending on the age of the children. They also present a show, which is 45 minutes long, to help teach the children about dental hygiene and encourage good dental care. Unfortunately, there must be a group of at least fifteen before they will have the film and puppet show. In addition, there is a huge toothbrush and oversized dental floss, again to help encourage dental care.
Located on First Street in St. Louis, the admission is free. Children really seem to enjoy going to the Dental Health Theatre, which came from a Chicago dentist in the 1970s. This dentist had these large teeth made in the 1970s, but was unable to get them in his house due to the size so he sold them to another dentist, who took them to St. Louis. Together with other dentists and their wives, they put together the displays, shows and started the theatre. Hours they are open are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
