July 4th Country Celebration at the Historic Daniel Boone Home & Boonesfield Village near St. Louis, Missouri
Nestled in the hills near the Missouri River, the Historic Daniel Boon Home is one of Americas finest treasures. Dating to the early 1800's this home site and historic village is a perfectly preserved piece of American history. From Log Cabins and rough hewn houses with whitewash walls, to men wearing pressed beaver felt hats, the entire site bustles with activity. One could say that the entire place, in fact, felt like the world was new and the spirit of adventure and discovery hangs in the air like smoke.
Come the 4th of July; the townsfolk are all excited and proud, for on this day, not long ago, our country was born! Festivities are all readied for their visitors and everyone is in there best dress (except the village drunk) and feasts are everywhere. For a week leading up to the 4th, folks are full of anticipation and fireworks are lit a little premature on several of the days. But on the 4th, the sky lights up as everyone remembers what our great leaders did for out country and celebrates Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!
