One thing diners don't have to worry about at Outback Crab Shack in St. Augustine, Florida is what they are wearing. The restaurant on Six Mile Creek near St. John's River advertises "no shirt, no shoes, no problem."
Counting on good food, excellent service and a fun atmosphere to keep customers coming back, Outback Crab Shack was founded in 1975 under another name — Six Mile Marina. In the ensuing 30+ years, the restaurant has benefited from amazing growth in popularity.
A few years after the marina location opened, the original owners' sons took the idea a bit further by putting together a relaxing place to enjoy some great food. The crab shack expanded into a restaurant with both indoor seating and outdoor seating. This growth allowed the restaurant to serve dozens of diners at the same time.
Outback Crab Shack invites visitors to take a leisurely walk along the dock to enjoy the scenery and wildlife, all part of the dining experience at this St. Augustine restaurant. When it is time to eat, diners can choose crab, shrimp, steak, even alligator! Some customers share a meal of crab claws, shrimp and other delights, dipping into the excellent butter sauce for extra great taste.
If the dining experience and the seaside atmosphere isn't enough to draw customers, the laid back feel of the restaurant will help. (Bring a Sharpie to sign the bathroom walls.) Outback Crab Shack is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 8155 County Road 13 North. (904) 522-0500.
