This 90 minute tour captured your attention as you were guided through the jail by traditionally dressed deputies and even got to meet the infamous sheriff, Joe Perry! You learned that the jail was built to resemble a fine hotel and could house around seventy prisoners at a time, both male and female, as well as other interesting facts about law enforcement in the deep South. You couldn't believe that such beautiful Spanish-American architecture used to house merciless criminals. As you continued your vacation in historic St. Augustine, your visit to the Jail left a lasting impression; you would love to return, but wouldn't want to stay there.

It was fun and educational. It did make me appreciate our lives today, and I felt a sense of sadness for the real people that had to live in that jail. The souvenir shop was nice, and the old time things. The tour guide was very good.
