The Bill and Payne Golf course is a public course in the scenic Ozarks. It opened in 1947 and was created by well known golf course designer Perry Duke Maxwell. The course is named after two top Missouri golfers Bill Stewart and his son Payne . Bill Stewart, a furniture salesman, was a Missouri Amateur winner and Payne Stewart had 11 PGA Tour wins, and went on to win two U S Opens and a PGA championship. He was an unmistakable figure on the course with his plus fours and tam o'shanter. In 2001 he was added to the list of legendary golfers in the World Golf Hall of Fame two years after he was tragically killed in an airplane accident.
The golf course covers around 6,000 yards and is a par 70 course with a rating of 68. The course, with lovely views of the Ozarks landscape, provides a challenging and enjoyable experience for different levels of ability. There are 27 holes in total — 18 regulation holes and 9 par 3 holes. The course is well-maintained with distinct elevation changes and requires good putting skills.
There are two practice greens, and a driving range. A pro shop, and private lessons are available, in addition to a snack bar serving refreshments before or after your game. The dress code requires shirt and shoes.
