First Night Springfield is a New Years Eve Celebration of the Arts for the whole family. It is one of one hundred such celebrations that take place around the world and the longest running one in Illinois. There will be an array of activities at various locations around the downtown area beginning at 1 P.M. through midnight including arts, dance, music, theatre, film and so much more.
There is so much to see and do during the First Night Springfield New Years Eve Celebration. Participtaing business and locations include The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, Building Art, Central Baptist Church, CHASE Bank, Christ Episcopal Church, Club 12/31, First Presbyterian Church, Hoogland Center for the Arts, Lincolns Home National Historic Site, Old State Capital, and US Bank. From free arts and craft activities and art gazing to paid concerts and more there is something for your whole family to enjoy. As night closes in around downtown Springfield more entertrainment awaits with the Charles Rogers Big Band, a Lincoln Era Period Ball, Ice Sculpting, comdey and Alternative Rock Teen site at club 12/31.
There are several areas available to park and free trolley service will be provided from 6:30 until 11:30 through the Springfield Trolley Tours. Lots of great food and drinks will be available for purchase and a parade and fireworks show will cap off the evening to ring in the New Year. Admission buttons can be purchased in advance or "at the door" and family packages are available as well.
