Viretta Park in Seattle, Washington is located on Lake Washington Boulevard East. It is open from dawn to dusk, during most seasons. Visitors to this park can enjoy the beautiful landscape of it as well as the many historical sites located here. The park is small, considered to be an average size for the area. In recent history, the park has become more well known. Located on the north part of the park is a small, shingled house where the famed Kurt Cobain died. The park has since become a landmark of sorts for fans that like to visit and bring flowers to lay outside of the house. Others leave other offerings on the benches that are found throughout the park.
Another recent landmark found at the park is the home built by Howard Schultz who founded Starbucks Coffee. The house was built on the south part of the park, and quickly became a hot topic and controversial design. The mansion is still there, though the landscaping that was done by him was later brought back to its original design.
Visitors to the location will find that the park offers a lake and steep slopes as well as forested areas. You can take the stairs here that lead you to 38th and John. The small park was named after C.L Denny's wife, who was related to Andrew Jackson, President of the United States . Visitors of the park can stroll through it, looking at the wildlife and scenery located here. No real structures exist on the park's property today.
