The Seattle Center is a mecca of entertainment, arts, sports, dining, and cultural adventures for all ages. The 87 acres park hosts the ballet, opera, the Seattle Children's Theatre, the Space Needle, an amusement park, the Experience Music Project, the Seattle Sonics NBA, and a monorail that connects to downtown Seattle.
Originally home of the 1962 World's Fair, the Seattle Center is now home to several large seasonal events like the Folk Life Festival, Bumbershoot and The Bite of Seattle. The park also features some cool architecture. Check out the sea urchin design of the International Fountain, the graceful arches and serene reflective pools of the Science Pavilion, and architect Frank Gehry's untamed EMP. With 10 million visitors a year, no wonder the Seattle Center's goal (according to the website) is to be the nation's best gathering place.
