This Bellevue museum, just 10 minutes from downtown Seattle, was voted the best doll museum in the world. Over 3,000 dolls are on display in the Neo-Victorian building, which also features an English garden, a library, and a gallery for traveling doll shows. The Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art is more than a plaything. You'll see a lot of history: 17th-century wooden dolls, 19th-century china dolls, and the original Barbie.
The museum let's children play with dolls in a hands-on area. It also let's grownups relive their childhood in the modern doll exhibit. Familiar dolls, ranging from Shirley Temple to G.I. Joe and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" action figures, make this museum enjoyable for everyone---not just doll collectors and kids.
