Enjoy art at an institution that first opened its doors in 1886 at Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia. There are three parts to this magnificent operation. The original building, now a National Historic Landmark, is now the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences, the
Owens-Thomas House is also a National Historic Landmark, and the recently completed Jepson Center for the Arts, which is a contemporary building that houses modern art.
The Jepson Center features expanded gallery space, educational resources, an art storage facility, sculpture gardens, an auditorium, a cafe, and museum store. Telfair Academy permanently houses a collection of fine arts, two period rooms, as well as traveling exhibitions. The Owens-Thomas House is a museum and also displays a large portion of the decorative arts collection. There are also such rare sights as an intact urban slave quarters that feature on-view objects .
