Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum in Savannah, Ga
The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum was recently voted "Georgia's Best New History Museum", by the Georgia Journal.
It chronicles the events of slavery times all the way to the mid 20th century that plagued the nation and it's African American community. The museum is located in a five-story building that was originally erected in 1914 as the Wage Earners Savings and Loan Bank for Black Savannahians. Currently, three of the five floors are filled with amazing photographs, interactive exhibits, a fiber optic map of 87 significant civil rights sites and events, video presentation, and much more.
There is a small fee to get into this museum, but it's well worth it. Operating hours are Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
