The National Historic Landmark District of Savannah, Georgia has long served as a tourist destination, a place of history and a place of honor.This location takes you inside some of the best of what the city has to offer including the park squares and various notable buildings that have stood the test of time.  It is considered the largest of its kind in the country.  You will find over 1000 buildings located here, each of them a unique architecture design and serving of some importance to the country, state or city.  Visitors can stroll through the district, taking in the range of buildings and artifacts as they do so.

You will be able to enjoy a tour of the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace which is the home of the family of this founded of the Girl Scouts of America.  Also, you can visit the Shops of the Sea Maritime Museum, features historic ships of all types, including artifacts and guided tours upon request.  The district also takes you through many of the fabulous buildings that have lined the waterfront for years.

Individuals can take a tour that is guided along this entire location.  Tours start at River Street and will take you north through Gwinnett Street and then down towards the south with MLK and then east on Broad Street.  The area was first dedicated as the National Historic Landmark District in 1966.  If you are planning to visit this district, plan for extensive walking, or take a guided tour.  Visitors will likely spend most of the day enjoying the beauty this region offers.
