Savannah Music Festival

The Savannah Music Festival is a celebration of the rich musical life in Georgia and holds the title as the largest music festival in the state.  It is a highlight for this area where music is such a large part of the cultural.  Performers at the event vary from year to year but have featured classic performers along with local performers.  The festival is a tribute to all types of music from jazz to country.  It has welcomed and entertained visitors since 2003 and is now a legendary staple of Savannah.  The festival lasts for a little over two weeks in early spring and the entertainment never stops with performances going almost continuously.   The festival is held in the historic district of the city and provides a great link between tourism and the arts in this popular tourist city.  Each year the festival has grown to include more musicians and more variety.  It has become an institution that represents the South, music and the cultural in the area.  Besides the musical performances the festival is also about music education.  It is a family event with workshops and classes for all ages.  Lectures and classes seek to expand the knowledge of every individual in attendance.  The festival allows people to explore music in a way they could never do otherwise with the performances and the activities together in an easily accessible area.  Tickets must be purchased to attend the event.  Information can be acquired through contacting the Savannah Music Festival Board of Directors.
