A primary trademark to the view of the city, Transamerica Pyramid stands 853 feet high and holds some of the most influential businesses in the city beneath its steel and class roof. The very top of this high-rise comes to a 212 foot point made of molded steel and brings the building up the charts as the fourth tallest building in the U.S. Completed in 1972, the pyramid design was inspired by necessity and ingenuity to allow a way for light and air to make its way to the streets below.
This colossal tower holds over 1,500 people daily, employed in the many firms and business within, and even withstood the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in 1989. Though the elevators at the top levels are not open to the public, there is a sky-cam with access screen in the lobby where visitors can quench their curiosity for the tremendous view. Come see the city's tallest building, learn the unique architectural details, and enjoy the surrounding upscale shops and restaurants of the Financial District at the Transamerica Pyramid.
