The Roxie Theater in San Francisco, California is the oldest in the city and has been one of the most risk taking and cutting edge theaters in the country. The Roxie shows more documentaries every year than any other theater in the country. The theater also serves as a classroom for the New College Media Studies Department.
Several film festivals are held there throughout the year. Anytime you visit, you'll want to check the content of the productions if you will be taking kids as these stage and film productions are often unrated and feature adult themes.
