Presidio in San Francisco, CA
As part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, this 1,480-acre collection of over 500 historic buildings includes a national cemetery, airfield, beaches, forests, and miles of space for outdoor activities. This historic site offers beautiful views and a few lessons in military culture dating back to the 1700s. Learn about the Ohlone Native Americans who lived here for thousands of years before the Spanish soldiers and missionaries came to the area.
Next to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Exploratorium, Presidio is also easy to find. The MUNI buses number 28, 29, 43, and 82X serve this area as well as cable car buses from Fisherman's Wharf. The Presidio also offers its own free shuttle, taking visitors to nearby public bus stops.
