This huge complex is host to numerous events and special occasions throughout the year, including top-notch symphony and ballet performances. Van Ness Avenue, the widest street in San Francisco, runs directly through the Civic Center. The center is comprised several buildings, including a library of over a million books, beautiful City Hall, the War Memorial Opera House, the Asian Art Museum, the Yerba Buena Cemetery, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, and the Children's Discovery Center.
The design of the buildings is striking against the skyline with the huge dome of City Hall and the daunting size of the complex. So much goes on at the Civic Center that you'll have a hard time not encountering it sometime in your visit to San Francisco. Keep a lookout, though, for special events you won't want to miss!
