Located in Danville, California, Blackhawk Museum is a nonprofit corporation founded with the goal of providing the public with the opportunity to view the technology, beauty, history and culture of automobiles as well as giving them educational enrichment.
The Blackhawk Museum comprises almost 70,000 square feet and consists of four different galleries for exhibitions. They include the Special Events Area, Automotive Reference Library & Museum Store, Board Room and the Catering Kitchen. This building, after much architectural and cultural planning, was finally made ready for the public in 1988. Each part of the museum has its own purpose, contributing to the success of the corporation. Each of the galleries is over 2,000 square feet, allowing plenty of room for the many exhibits including the many rotating exhibits. In addition to the many exhibits, there are also educational lectures presented each month.
Right off the main lobby of the museum, you will find the Automotive Research Library and the shop and bookstore. Here you can find many interesting books on the many aspects of collections of automobiles. You will see over 90 different cars, many of them from all over the world on loan from museum friends.
