Plaza Exhibit of Sculpture by David Baughan at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, CA

From September to November 2007, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, California displayed a series of sculptures by artist David Baughan on their Plaza. Baughan, represented by the Darnell Fine Art Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been sculpting for over 20 years and has over 100 pieces in stone and 20 pieces in bronze. He is also a successful furniture designer who is represented in 14 major markets nationwide. The exhibit of Baughan's sculptures complemented the cathedral walls and outdoor gardens of the plaza, and the thousands who saw the exhibit were awed by the works' abstract and figurative forms.

The fact that the Episcopalian Grace Cathedral was home to an art show is no surprise - the cathedral is known for its open-mindedness and dedication to the arts. In fact, the cathedral permanently displays late gay activist and artist Keith Haring's AIDS Chapel piece of artwork as an altarpiece. The chapel is also well-known for its dedication to music; it is home to several choir groups, as well as three organs and a 44-bell carillon. Grace Cathedral often holds events and exhibits art in its outdoor plaza; please contact the cathedral directly to inquire about current art displays and upcoming events.
