Probably the biggest music event to draw visitors to hotels in San Diego, the annual Street Scene concert is scheduled to be at Qualcomm Stadium this year. Every year, some of the biggest names in rock, pop, R&B, and rap star in this highly popular, heavily attended mass event, including artists such as Kanye West and Muse. While entertainment for all ages is included in the show, there are certain events as well as bars serving alcohol where valid identification is required. The star-studded lineup is certainly not the only draw to the event, either. There are a number of other entertaining shows that are a part of Street Scene, including the Dragon House Drag Show and the Lollipop Burlesque Girls.
In 2006, the show ran for two days with around 40 artists, including Queens of the Stone Age, Yellowcard, The Shins, AFI, Wu Tang Clan, Sean Paul, Bad Religion, My Chemical Romance, Tool, and many more. Aside from music, there are more than 2.5 million square feet of entertainment outside the stadium, featuring food, art, and — yes — more music, all from national and international artists. A staple in downtown San Diego since 1984, the festivities are perhaps some of the most diverse urban events in the country, having expanded greatly in recent years, especially since 2005, when the area around the stadium was annexed as part of Street Scene. The event usually takes place in early August, so book a room in one of the many hotels in San Diego ahead of time to be prepared.
