Shopping In San Diego: Where to Go

Shopping is one of the primary pastimes in the US. No matter where you visit, shopping is one of the key attractions. You need to know where to get the best clothes, unique items and that special souvenir to always remember your trip. Knowing where to shop when you visit a new city will put you one step ahead of the game. Rather than falling into the regular tourist traps, you can find the areas that the locals enjoy and the shops that offer you exactly what you are looking for. The city of San Diego is no different and offers plethora of shopping options. Whether you're looking for great t-shirts or high fashion, hand blown glass or souvenirs, you can find it all in San Diego if you know where to go.

Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

This is a very interesting area, whether you are going for the fantastic shopping or just to see what it's all about. This area is the reconstruction of what the city was like hundreds of years ago, right after the settlement by the Spanish. You can find adobes standing around the area, as well as period machinery and farming implements. You can get some unique items in the stores, from handcrafted items to reproductions of period items. Whether you want a t-shirt or a hand woven blanket, you can find them all here. Stop by and enjoy the history as well as the great shopping opportunities.

Fashion Valley Center

This is the "it" place for upscale shopping in San Diego. From Nordstrom's to Tiffany, you'll find a wide selection of fine stores offering upscale merchandise. You can find Gucci, Neiman Marcus and Burberry, Apple and Sony, as well. With offerings from great technology to fashion, you can find it all in this fascinating shopping center.

Horton Plaza

When the city of San Diego decided to revitalize the downtown area in the mid 80's, Horton Plaza was where they started. Offering great stores and some very interesting architecture, you can find interesting stores tucked away in surprising places. If you are looking for a great place to grab a bite of lunch and do a little shopping in a unique area, Horton Plaza has what you want.

Otay Ranch Town Center

The newest addition to shopping in San Diego in 20 years, Otay Ranch offers you a very interesting look at shopping. This is not your traditional mall at all, but a "lifestyle" shopping area. Created to resemble a neighborhood business district, you can step into an entire other town and find some truly excellent shopping in the process. There are many unique stores to choose from, but the layout is one of the most unique experiences in San Diego shopping.

These are only a small sampling of what San Diego has to offer. You can find some truly amazing areas in the city, including many centered in and around Balboa Park. If you are looking for some fun and exciting shopping opportunities, they await you in San Diego.
